OPERATIONAL TIPS
1. TV/Wifi: The Treehouse WiFi password is “treehouse123” with no uppercases or spaces.
2. Ceiling Fans: To control the ceiling fans there is a double switch on the far wall to the left of the fireplace over the bank of light switches. We recommend keeping the ceiling fans turned on during your stay to allow the air to circulate; otherwise the loft might get uncomfortably hot.
3. Heating & Cooling: The treehouse has a heat pump that is the source of the heat/cooling from May through September. The remote control is the large white one in the box with the rest of the remotes. Make sure the controller reads “heat” or “cool” depending on your needs. It has a fan control that can be seen when one slides the front down on the remote control. From October through April, the propane heaters will heat the treehouse. You can manually control the propane heaters located next to the dining table and in the master bathroom to keep the treehouse warm. The fireplace puts out a lot of heat as well.
4. Fireplace: The fireplace has a remote control to turn it on/off and to set the fireplace at different levels, depending on your preferences. It can be found with the rest of the remotes.
5. Sound Bar: There is also a sound bar over the fireplace that you can connect to using Bluetooth. There is a remote to control the sound bar located with the rest of the remotes.
6. Screened-In Porches: The windows for the screened-in porches easily slide up and down as needed. Please remember these screened porches are an extension of the indoor living spaces, just like the inside, absolutely no smoking of any kind and/or vaping is allowed in the porches!
7. Master Bedroom: This bed is head and foot adjustable and vibrates. The controller is located by the bed.
8. Shower: The control panel can be used to adjust the lighting and fans. Under the control panel is a knob for selecting which shower to use. Unfortunately, a previous guest broke the glass shower door and neither the door nor a whole new shower unit is available to purchase anymore. However, the installed shower curtain still provides an enjoyable steam shower experience. There is also the seasonal outdoor shower that is operational May through September.
9. Sauna: The control panel is located to the left of the door. Keep in mind the temperature is in Celsius. The max temperature of 65 degrees Celsius equals 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Enjoy the interior sound system!
10. Jacuzzi: Step 1: Look for the drain plug at the side of the tub and place that in the drain. Step 2: On the left side of the tub, next to the shower head, there is a knob that is used to select the water source – either the shower head or the faucet. Select which source that you want to us. Step 3: To the right of the selector is the knob that runs the water. Turn on the water. Step 4: Fill the tub to at least a couple of inches above the jet openings. If you skip this step and turn on the jets, water will spray everywhere and create quite a mess! Step 5: Once the water is at a sufficient level now you are ready to enjoy. On the right side of the tub is a control panel. The power button is all the way to the right. Press the power button and then select which features you want to use. The button to the left of the power button controls the jets. The next button controls the bubbles. Finally, the last series of buttons control the lighting, radio and temperature. Please remember this is a two person Jacuzzi, the treehouse moves in the trees and therefore, the plumbing is meant to withstand this movement. Therefore, filling time is unfortunately a little show and when additional people/weight is in the tub it can knock that plumbing out of alignment and cause quite a bit of mess upon draining.
11. Miscellaneous: A small ironing board can be found beside the cabinet in the bathroom. The iron and a hair dryer are stored under the bathroom sink. Additional paper towels are stored over the microwave and garbage bags over the refrigerator. A small first aid kit and band aids can be found in the pantry on the top shelf.
12. Privacy Blinds: Please note that Privacy Shades can be found in the living room, bedrooms and bathrooms windows they just might be hiding behind the curtain valances.
FIRE SAFETY
1. Fire Extinguisher: There is a fire extinguisher underneath the kitchen sink.
2. Fire Pit: For your safety, if you plan on building a campfire in the picnic area, we encourage you to avoid foraging for sticks in the woods. The Maine woods are notorious for ticks and poison ivy, so it’s best to stay on the gravel area. There are numerous roadside stands that sell bundles of camp firewood that you can purchase. Lastly, of course, please practice good fire safety!
3. SMOKING: NO SMOKING OF ANY KIND IS ALLOWED inside of the treehouse and/or its screened porches and obviously, do not throw cigarette butts on the ground.
QUIET TIME & NEIGHBORS
The Acadia Treehouse Retreat is fully private on our own 73 acres of land. You have the entire treehouse, parking area and nearby surround forest to yourself. However, our other listing, the Bar Harbor Cabin with Treehouse Suite, is also located about 75 yards on the property through the forest. We kindly ask that you respect your neighbor’s privacy and only explore around your immediate area. Also, as sound can carry, we kindly ask that guest be respectful of neighbors and observe quiet hours of 10pm to 7am.
